Video: Costa Rican goalkeeper pulls off seriously impressive double-save

The defender owes him a cold beverage of his choice

He really spared his defender’s blushes

Daniel Cambronero, who sounds remarkably like the fictional car from the Simpsons,  made a superb double save for Herediano during their CONCACAF Champions League clash against Olimpia.

The shot-stopper, who was a part of the Costa Rican 2014 World Cup squad, looked like he was in deep trouble when his defender made an awful blunder. The centre-back was trying to make a clearance when he clumsily played a pass directly to the opposing team’s striker, leaving him with pretty much an open net to fire into.

However, Cambronero refused to admit defeat and flung himself across the goal to make a ludicrous full-stretch stop before swiftly changing direction to stop a follow-up effort aimed at the other side of the goal.

Olimpia players sunk to the ground in disbelief at the goalkeeper’s amazing feat, but also partly due to the fact that their forwards’ inability to finish clear-cut sitters.
