Alan Shearer is a bit of a legend on his native Tyneside.
The local-boy-done-good returned to Newcastle United after winning the Premier League with Blackburn Rovers.
The goal-scoring machine didn’t exactly bring the trophies pouring into his boyhood club, but he’s a hero none-the-less.
Now, thanks to ex-Magpies chief Freddie Shepherd, they’ve built a statue of the Match of the Day presenter.

The 9ft effigy of the Geordie hero has already been sculpted in China and they’re just waiting to ship it back to Newcastle.

Not everyone is convinced the statue looks like the former Newcastle number nine though.

By, that statue of Shearer is accurate and in no way terrifying. Said no-one ever. #NUFC

But the man himself seems happy with it.
To those asking. I'm honoured to have a statue. I'm proud to have it and yes I really like it. And I have hair! 👴🏻 https://t.co/3sA2onxko7
