Scare for Liverpool as Philippe Coutinho is injured in training at Copa America

Does not appear serious

The little Brazilian is the last man Brendan Rodgers wants to see on the treatment table

Philippe Coutinho is a major doubt for Brazil’s Copa America opener against Peru tonight after picking up an injury in training, the Liverpool Echo reports.

The Liverpool midfielder has finally broken into his national side after an excellent season at Anfield and delivered a fine performance in a pre-tournament friendly against Mexico, which included this individual goal.

But the 23-year-old faces missing out after picking up a thigh injury in training, but reports suggest the injury is minor and that Coutinho could be back in the reckoning for subsequent games.

“All the players are available, there is no risk of cutting,” manager Dunga said ahead of a campaign that also includes games against Colombia and Venezuela.

That is great news for Liverpool, who could do without their most creative player joining leading striker Daniel Sturridge on the sidelines to start next season.
