Revised contract offered to Andreas Pereira as Manchester United look to avoid “pulling a Pogba”

Learning from mistakes

Manchester United are intent on not letting another Paul Pogba slip through their fingertips .

After failing to sign the Frenchman to a contract back in 2012, Manchester United have had to watch through gritted teeth as Pogba has blossomed into one of the best midfielders in world football during his near three years with Juventus.

But Louis van Gaal is making a point of not repeating one of the few mistakes made by Alex Ferguson during his tenure at Old Trafford and has overseen the tabling of a contract offer for one of their biggest up-and-comers.

19-year-old Andreas Pereira has appeared just twice for the Red Devils this season, once in the league and once in the Capital One Cup, but his situation is being monitored by European powerhouses PSG and Juventus.

The Belgian-born, Brazil U20 international, who is out of contract in the summer, has been offered an improved deal by United after he turned down their initial offer.

Pereira will likely postpone signing anything until he is guaranteed first-team football by LVG but the Dutchman would be wise to do so if he is to avoid making a mistake as costly as the one which now sees Manchester United chasing a man whose agent claims is worth €100 million that they let leave for almost nothing.
