The pressure is on the man who fills the boots of Laurent Blanc.
Blanc has reportedly been axed by PSG despite delivering three Ligue 1 titles, three Coupe de la Ligue championships and two Coupe de France trophies in his three years at the Parc des Princes.
Suggestions that Blanc was to be sacked circulated in recent weeks when club president Nasser al Khelaifi claimed the most recent, domestic treble-winning season was “a failure.”
And according to reports from French outlet L’Equipe, the inevitable took place on Wednesday and Blanc was sent packing.
The report claims that Blanc, who was appointed PSG manager in June 2013 after spells in charge of the French national team and Bordeaux, has pocketed a €22 million pay-off to walk away from the job.
The former Manchester United defender had only just signed a two-year contract extension in February but his inability to launch a genuine Champions League challenge is believed to have led to his dismissal.
Unai Emery is said to be the front-runner to succeed Blanc after leaving his position with Sevilla last week.
