RIP

Jesús de Miguel Alameda, 30, has passed away in hospital, following a collision during CD Tenerife's Segunda Division clash with Andorra on Monday.

The game was abandoned in the seventh minute of added time after the striker lost consciousness due to a coming together with Andorra goalkeeper Jesus Owono.

While it was intially reported that his condition was 'serious but stable', it was announced by his club yesterday, November 3, that he had passed away.

In a statement, they said: "Racked with pain, with a lump in our throats and unable to believe that this is true, from CD Tenerife we communicate the tragic passing, this Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 8:00 a.m., of Jesús de Miguel Alameda.

"There are no words of comfort; there is absolutely nothing that can alleviate this feeling overflowing with sadness. We stand alongside his devastated family, alongside his loved ones, alongside all of tinerfeñismo that today weeps for this cruel outcome.

"The family of Jesús de Miguel thanks each and every one of the expressions of support received, and likewise requests, from the heart, the utmost respect for their privacy in these terrible moments. 🖤 DEP"

It has now been reported that Spanish police have opened an investigation into 'possible involuntary manslaughter'.

In a statement released today, November 4, Owono said: "These are the most difficult days of my life

"I struggle to find the words, and I find it very hard to process what has happened. I know there will be many questions to address, and I will face whatever comes with the utmost respect.

"But right now, honestly, I cannot think about anything other than Jesus and the pain we are experiencing. Rest in peace, Jesus."

The goalkeeper had also deactivated his Instagram account after a tirade of abuse.

His teammate, Lautaro Spatz, took to social media to defend him.

He wrote: "I also want to say a few words about my teammate, goalkeeper and friend, who is deeply affected by what has happened.

"Those of us who know him know the kind of person he is, how much he is suffering at this moment, and that he would never intentionally hurt anyone.

"In football, unfortunate incidents can happen, but no one could imagine that one of them might end with such tragic consequences."
