Sergio Romero is set to join international teammates Angel di Maria and Marcos Rojo at Manchester United according to reports in Italy.
La Gazetta dello Sport is reporting that the Argentine goalkeeper has agreed to move to Old Trafford after parting ways with Sampdoria this summer.
The 28-year-old is believed to have signed on a three-year deal and is seen as a replacement for Victor Valdes who is up for sale according to United boss Louis van Gaal who said of the former Barcelona stopper “he doesn’t follow my philosophy… There is no place for someone like that.”
Van Gaal knows what he’s getting with Romero after working with the player for two years at AZ and will be delighted to have a goalkeeper he trusts at his disposal if and when David de Gea makes his inevitable move to Real Madrid.
