Liverpool have reportedly agreed personal terms with 19-year-old Anderlecht midfielder Samuel Bastien. The promising Belgian U21, if the deal is closed, will be Jurgen Klopp’s second signing of the summer and fourth overall since he took over from Brendan Rodgers.
Belgium’s Voetbalkrant claims a deal is in place for Bastien and that Anderlecht will receive an initial fee of €5 million with add-ons potentially taking the total up to €6m.
Samuel made his Anderlecht debut, at the age of 18, in December 2014 but was loaned out to Serie B side Avelino last season. He played 31 times for the side and scored goals against Brescia and Cesena.
Bastien was reportedly scouted by Fiorentina, Juventus and Roma over the course of last season but Liverpool look to have acted swiftly to secure his signature. He made his Belgium U21 debut earlier this season.
The Merseysiders signed goalkeeper Loris Karius to a five-year deal while, earlier this year, they sealed deals for Schalke defender Joel Matip and Red Star Belgrade midfielder Marko Grujic.
