Jack’s going Dutch…
Less than 24 hours after signing a new three-year deal at Manchester City Jack Byrne is on the move, after agreeing a season-long loan deal with Dutch side SC Cambuur.
The 18-year-old is seen as one of the brightest prospects in Irish football and City clearly feel he is a talent worth holding on to, as evidenced by the new contract.
It’s been notoriously difficult for young players to break through to the first team at the Etihad, but a season away on loan will surely help Byrne acclimatise to football at a high level.
And playing in the top flight of Dutch football for Cambuur, against the likes of Ajax and Feyenoord, is only going to help Byrne develop technically as a player and it’s news that will surely be welcomed by Martin O’Neill.
