It looks like Manchester United might have to give up their chase of Barcelona’s Pedro

Oh

SportsJOE

Right, what the hell is going on?

We know what you’re thinking: it’s grand, United have another nine million players on their shortlist anyway but we thought this was supposed to be the done deal.

Di Maria is off to France, Pedro was supposed to be on his way to Old Trafford. But we’re getting mixed signals all over the shop now.

The Manchester Evening News are reporting that United are intensifying their pursuit of the Spaniard. Okay. They don’t say why they think that but, okay.

In the same article – the very same article – they quote the club president who says Pedro is going nowhere. Nowhere, I tells ya.

Perhaps it has been getting complicated around the serenading of the player from the Camp Nou faithful during the friendly with Roma. You know, the one Messi lost the plot in.

And, in the Marca, Barca president Josep-Maria Bartomeu has stated that Pedro is staying in Catalonia.

“There is nothing on Pedro, there isn’t any official offer,” he said of United’s interest.

“He is a Barca player and we want him to continue at Barca. To win the six competitions (we are in), we need the best players and Pedro is one of them.”
