Barcelona offer two players plus significant fee for Paul Pogba

Wil Jones

That’s a lowball offer.

Manchester United have rejected an unexpected offer from Barcelona for midfielder Paul Pogba.

However, the offer is much lower than you might expect for a player of the talent, age, valuation and profile of Paul Pogba.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Barca have offered €50 million for the Frenchman, plus two players:

  • Centre back Yerry Mina
  • Midfielder Andre Gomes

Both players had already been linked with moves to England already, with Everton chasing Mina and West Ham reportedly interested in Gomes.

Earlier this week, there was talk of Manchester United looking at Mina too.

But it appears United have turned down what seems like a low bid and you can’t really blame them.

Paul Pogba signed for United for a then-record transfer fee of €105 million in 2016.

He had his problems with Mourinho last year, being dropped to the bench for a number of games, but he remains integral in the spine of United and, after a great World Cup campaign – individually and with his team – Pogba’s stock and his influence have only risen.

It’s no secret that United are in the market for a defender with their reported bid to bring a German to Old Trafford the lastest in that saga and Yerry Mina is sought-after far and wide this window. But it would take more than the lure of Andre Gomes to tempt United to part with Pogba.

Nice try. This isn’t Football Manager though.
