It’s not all that long since AC Milan were regarded as the true royalty of European football.

The saying once went that you hadn’t made it as a footballer until you’d worn the red and black of Milan.

But in recent years the club of Franco Baresi, Paolo Maldini, Marco van Basten and Andrey Shevchenko have declined spectacularly.

However, with an influx of cash coming from the sale of 48% of Silvio Berluscini’s stake in the club to Thai businessman Bee Taechaubol it seems the Rossoneri are set to become a major force in the transfer market once more.

On Tuesday it was announced that Pippo Inzaghi had been sacked as manager after just one season in charge, with Sinisa Mihajlovic signing a two-year deal as his replacement.

And it seems like Mihajlovic could have a pretty exciting side at his disposal next season.

Today’s Gazzetta dello Sport say Milan are lining up a ‘total attack’ that will see them start next season with a front three of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Jackson Martinez and Luis Adriano.

Quite how much it will take to prise that trio away from Paris St-Germain, Porto and Shakhtar Donetsk respectively remains to be seen (and that’s before the astronomical wages come into it) but one thing is certain: Taechaubol is going to get a crash course in how expensive it is to fund a top level football team.
