Jamie Heaslip is owning 2016.
The Ireland vice captain got a handle on his form midway through the Six Nations and has put in epic performance after epic performance in Leinster blue and Irish green.
Heaslip has played key roles in victories over South Africa, Australia and the All Blacks. He also started and finished off the World Rugby Try of the Year and was nominated for World Player of the Year.
Heaslip is on a week off from playing duty before the Champions Cup comes back into view and he made good use of some of it by showing up on last night’s Late Late Toy Show.
Evan Hoban, a young rugby enthusiast, was given the surprise of his life when Heaslip dropped by and presented him with the jersey he had worn in the 27-24 win over the Wallabies.
T’would bring a tear to a glass eye.
Naturally, there was a lot of love out there for Heaslip and his generous spirit.
We already know @jamieheaslip is a bit of a legend. What a great lad, and an awesome rugby player. One of the best. #LateLateToyShow #Rugby
