This is what Rhys Webb dreamed off when he was shuttling up the high street in his borrowed mobility scooter.
The World Cup was a nightmare for the Welsh scrumhalf.
He entered the competition as one of rugby’s form 9s but missed most of the fun with a severe foot and ankle ligament injury.
Things got so tough for the Ospreys man that he was forced to ask a favour off his nan. Earlier this week, he told reporters:
“I was in a cast for eight weeks and was not able to drive.
“I am someone who does not like to be still for long and I could not face being stuck in the house, so I borrowed my nan’s mobility scooter and roamed the streets on it.
“It had two speeds, tortoise and cheetah, and I was trying to max it out with my dogs tied to the back.”
This afternoon, as Wales laid waste to a callow Italian outfit, Webb marked his first Test start since the World Cup with a wonderful, sniping try.
Cheetah speed, all the way.
Wales led 27-0 at the break and will seek to put a half century on the hapless Azzurri to end their championship on a high.
