WATCH: Connacht flanker shows mesmerising hands TWICE to set up glorious try

Conan Doherty

Don’t call it a comeback. This is what Connacht do.

It hasn’t been a good opening to the Pro 12 for the champions but the west firmly and resoundingly began to wake up once more with a first half display of speed and skill against Edinburgh.

Pat Lam’s men ran up a 28-15 victory over their Scottish visitors in Galway but it was the late first half try of Quinn Roux that showed that they were on their way back to finding the magic of last season.

It was epitomised in the freedom and adventure of one, Jake Heenan.

The flanker – yep, flanker – broke forward not once but twice to send Connacht on their way in what was a slicing team move so typical of the champs.

1. Heenan lines up the Edinburgh tackler and side-steps him to the left.

2. He then releases the ball beautifully with a little disguised one-handed wonder.

3. If that wasn’t enough, he joins the front line once more and assists with the final pass which he pops out of his hands with pure invention.

Watch the glory of this stunning try below as Heenan sets up Roux with the deftest of flicks.

Soft-hands Heenan is what they’ll call him if he keeps up this sort of craic.

Just don’t call it a comeback.

Will it be Mayo (or the Dubs) 4 Sam? Wooly, Paul Galvin and Conán Doherty preview Saturday’s All-Ireland final replay.
