What a powerful moment.
South Africa are looking to book their place in yet another World Cup final this weekend when they face the All-Blacks in today’s opening semi-final at Twickenham.
If the Springboks do reach the decider it will be the first time they will be in the showpiece without the inspiration of the country’s most famous politician, the late Nelson Mandela.
The former Robin Island prison inmate famously handed our the Webb Ellis to Francis Pienaar in 1995, when the first professional World Cup was staged in South Africa.
And today, almost 20 years to the day since that historic moment Pienaar, along with a number of his colleagues from 1995, came together in London at the Nelson Mandela statute in London to sing the country’s national anthem.
The video speaks well itself: spine-tingling.
