Twitter beats Scotland with the Lewandowski stick but Ireland fans are the most relieved of all

Typical

Conan Doherty

Never in doubt.

The northern hemisphere was almost alive and well and we almost had Scotland to thank for it.

Four of the Six Nations made it to the Rugby World Cup quarter final and, one by one, Wales, France and Ireland all fell by the wayside but Scotland – yes, the Scots – almost made it. Almost.

They didn’t though. Of course they didn’t.

And, despite a truly unbelievable fight that saw them take the lead with six minutes to go with a try that had their names half written into history with Japan-size font, they bottled it.

A last-gasp penalty from Michael Cheika’s men inched the Wallabies one point ahead in heartbreaking fashion as the Scotsmen crashed out 35-34.

There was no Lewandowski on Sunday evening but there was definitely shades of it.

And, naturally, the good old world of social media never let them off the hook. They still blamed the big Pole.

We all feel bad for them but think of it this way… Ireland could’ve potentially missed out on a semi final place with Scotland.

At least the English fans have a bit of company now…

We’re all in this together.

Northern Hemisphere pride at an all time low. The national hemispheric shame.
