Terenure RFC have announced All Black legend Carlos Spencer as their new head coach.
The South-Dublin club have enjoyed much success in recent years, reaching their first AIL Division 1A final in 2022, before winning their first title in 2023 and reaching the final in 2024.
Spencer, who won 44 caps for New Zealand, will replace Seán Skehan who has moved to Wanderers on a three-year deal.
The 49-year-old maverick played for the Auckland Blues, Northampton, and Gloucester and was known for his outrageous skills and off-the-cuff play.
He has coached been assistant coach for Super Rugby sides the Lions, the Sharks, Hurricanes, and MLR side New Orleans Gold.
Terenure released a statement: "TCRFC also announced that the vastly experienced Paul Barr will be taking on the role of the Club’s Performance Director, working closely with the highly regarded and longstanding Director of Rugby Ian 'Moggy' Morgan.
"Carlos was the outstanding candidate following our recruitment process. We believe this is an ambitious and exciting appointment for our Club, the All-Ireland League and Irish Rugby.
“Carlos will be welcomed warmly into the Terenure Community and everyone involved with our Club is extremely excited to begin working with him, especially the players.
"We are confident that Carlos will bring an incredible wealth of knowledge, experience and skill from his professional playing & coaching career and we are looking forward to the journey ahead.”
Spencer said: "Terenure, a club with a proud history, passionate supporters and a strong sense of community, I feel very lucky and honoured to now be a part of that.”
