Now, we’re not judging anyone who likes One Direction but we just didn’t expect an international rugby player to be a huge fan of their work.
For us, it all went down hill when that one fella left the band but that’s not the case for Johnny Sexton apparently.
In the latest in a series of video diaries from the Ireland camp, Darren Cave and Eoin Reddan have claimed that the Irish out-half is a big Directioner and has organised for some of his teammates to go to a concert tonight.
Reddan said:
“Some news about tomorrow night, Jonny Sexton is a huge One Direction fan. I think he’s arranged tickets for us to go, so if you’re there or you’re interested in One Direction hopefully you might see a few of the lads there.”
The boy band are playing London’s O2 Arena tonight so some of the Irish squad may well be in attendance as Westmeath’s Niall Horan is a big supporter of the international team.
Cmon Ireland ! Great display…@IrishRugby

Horan would want to sort his allegiances out before the knock-out stage, though.
Nice to finally meet @NiallOfficial & even cooler to see how grounded he still is. Thanks for the tix mate. pic.twitter.com/1D3OWLnCeM

We’re sure that Reddan was only taking the piss about Sexton being a huge One Direction fan but, hey, stranger things have happened.
