Ireland are Six Nations champions.
While we’ll have to wait another week to see if they can deliver the Grand Slam, it still feels good to say they are champions.
However, it gets even sweeter. With Ireland beating Scotland and England losing to France on Saturday, Joe Schmidt’s men will officially move above England into second in the world rankings when they are confirmed on Monday.
Ireland are set to gain .63 of a point, with England losing 1.88 points.
So, the rankings will look like this.

Scotland’s defeat also sees them drop down one spot to sixth, just one above Wales and two ahead of France. Only New Zealand are ahead of Ireland, the All Blacks are way out in front with 93.99 points.
With Ireland snatching the Six Nations championship away from England and leapfrogging Eddie Jones’ men in the rankings, all that’s left to do is finish the job by beating them in Twickenham on St Patrick’s Day to crown a fantastic few months for Irish rugby.
