Could be ready for Wembley

Don’t be surprised to see Robbie Henshaw’s name feature in Joe Schmidt’s team announcement on Friday.

The Connacht centre is believed to have recovered sufficiently from his hamstring injury to feature in Ireland’s second Pool D game next Sunday.

“Thankfully in relation to yesterday apart from the normal bumps and bruises associated with Test rugby we’ve got a clean bill of health which is good news,” said Ireland manager Mick Kearney.

“Robbie is good, he is progressing through his rehab. The expectation is that he will be available for selection for the Romania game on Sunday.”

Henshaw missed Ireland’s 50-7 victory over Canada this weekend and hasn’t trained yet but is expected to do so ahead of the Wembley clash with Romania.

“The expectation is that he will train this week,” Kearney added.

“Injuries are part and parcel of it but I think we’ve actually done really well, apart from losing Tommy O’Donnell.

“We’ve now come through Canada well too so it’s good news.”
