New Scarlets rugby jersey somehow manages to squeeze in 10 sponsors

Get ready for an assault on your eyes.

If you think the front is bad, get ready for the back.

World Rugby is currently re-visiting its rule-book and will be making some tweaks in the coming months. If they wanted to expand their remit, they could do worse than limiting the SHEER AMOUNT of sponsors on jerseys and shorts.

Earlier this month we lauded the new Racing 92 jersey that Simon Zebo and Donnacha Ryan will be sporting in the Top 14 next season, despite sponsors bumping the club crest down too far. Many rightly claimed that the club crest should be prominently placed and the Welsh side have, at least, kept their one where it traditionally should be.

Scarlets have seen Racing’s release and had a ‘hold my beer’ reaction.

Their 2018/19 home kit has a whopping 16 sponsors on the jersey and shorts, and that does not include four shout-outs to kit manufacturer Macron.

A proliferation of sponsors strewn across the red home jersey and a bold white collar (sponsored, of course) to boot.

The 2016/17 Guinness PRO12 champions have 10 sponsored spots on the front and arms of their home jersey and the back is pretty full up too.

That big red patch in the back is for players numbers. Glad Scarlets kept some space.

So, 16 sponsors in total and there could be another couple on the back of the shorts. This could be how many of the Welsh regions are able to afford getting international stars back playing their rugby in the country. Every little helps.

For anyone that would like to don this jersey next season, the ‘Body Fit’ is available for £90 while the regular (we presume looser) fit is retailing at £60.
