Munster Rugby have confirmed that fly-half Joey Carbery sustained a hamstring injury at Ireland training last week and that he will continue his rehabilitation in Ireland camp this week.
Carbery was unavailable for selection in Rome on Sunday as Ireland trudged their way to a bonus point win over Italy with Connacht fly-half Jack Carty making his international debut off the bench.
Carbery will hopefully be in contention for next month’s home visit of France while Munster and Ireland teammate CJ Stander is said to be progressing with his cheek injury from Ireland’s opening Six Nations match with England.
Elsewhere Munster prop Ciaran Parker has sustained a hamstring injury and will be managed by the club’s medical department while flanker Chris Cloete presented with concussive symptoms after the Ospreys match and will enter the graded return to play protocols.
Meanwhile Brian Scott (foot), James Cronin (leg), Dave O’Callaghan (foot), Tommy O’Donnell (shoulder) Sammy Arnold (leg) and Stander are all progressing with their rehabilitation from injury.
