The Italian has also been issued with a four-game ban, which has been suspended.
When Toulon played Leicester a few weeks ago, former Tiger Martin Castrogiovanni used a post-match presser to put the boot into the Aviva Premiership club and his former boss Richard Cockerill.
The front row was aggrieved about how his departure from Welford Road was handled and he used some fairly salty language in his tirade.
Cockerill had a more restrained pop back last week and despite an apology from Castrogiovanni, the EPC have finally meted out some punishment.
The Italian forward has been fined €10,000, to be paid to a charity in Leicester, and he has also been banned for four games, however the ban has been suspended. The judgement on the EPC site states: ‘The Committee Chairman, Antony Davies, accepted that Castrogiovanni’s comments regarding Leicester Tigers being “amateur” were made in an ironic and questioning manner, and therefore did not constitute criticism. He also acknowledged the player’s genuine remorse.’
