Good God, that was a mighty Haka.
The Crusaders are 14 from 14 in this season’s Super Rugby championship and are hoping to make this tough tour a sight tougher.
The Kiwis were certainly up for this one and they unleashed an absolutely fearsome Haka to welcome the British & Irish Lions to Christchurch.
The only thing about it is, the Lions have seen countless war dances and there are plenty more to come. On The Hard Yards rugby podcast, former Ireland internationals Stephen Ferris and Kevin McLaughlin agreed that the tourists will be “sick” of facing up to the Haka by the end of this six-week stint in New Zealand.
“They’ve probably faced about 24 hakas so far. They’re probably so sick of it already,” McLaughlin remarked.
We’re not so sure if England and Lions prop Mako Vunipola is tired of facing up to the tribal war cries or whether he just had an itch that needed scratching. Either way, he hardly looked bothered…
Credit:Vunipola certainly wasn’t having it but at least he was backing up his front on the pitch in the first half as he was part of a Lions scrum that won a couple of crucial penalties.
