Jack O'Toole

Leinster and Ireland flanker Jordi Murphy will auction off his signed Grand Slam jersey in aide of CanTeen Ireland,  a nation-wide support group for young people between the ages of 12 and 25 years who have or have had cancer.

Murphy will give the signed jersey away to the highest bidder with the leading bid at the time of writing currently standing at €2,500.

The Ulster bound flanker came off the bench in both of Ireland’s final two Six Nations matches as Joe Schmidt’s side won just the third Grand Slam in Irish Rugby history.

Murphy took to his Twitter account on Thursday to encourage his followers to pledge their support.

“Am auctioning off my jersey from England game on Paddy’s day,” wrote Murphy. “All proceeds going towards incredibly worthwhile charity close to my heart. Please RT. Thank you.”

Former Leinster teammate Brendan Macken also pledged his support and encouraged followers to support the cause.

“Big is auctioning his Grand Slam Winning jersey all proceeds going To a great charity very special & close to our hearts! Please get bidding!!”
