A beautiful touch.
The west is certainly awake right now after Connacht’s remarkable season was capped with passage to the Pro12 final next week.
Pat Lam’s side battled their way to a semi-final victory over Glasgow this evening in a game played in front of a rapt home crowd in Galway.
The Westerners put on a show of extreme defiance as well as skill to dethrone the champions, and set up a showdown with Leinster next week in Murrayfield.
After the game legendary servant of Connacht John Muldoon spoke to Marcus Horan, and on a night when Galway witnessed the birth of a new generation of heroes, he took time to remember one who has sadly passed away this weekend.
Former GAA President and Galway All-Ireland winner Joe McDonagh died after a short illness on Friday night, and Muldoon, ever full of class, remembered the great hero of the west after he heard the faint strains of ‘The West’s Awake’ in the background of his interview.

Fair play to John Muldoon that in the madness of post-match interview he still references the late Joe McDonagh on @Rugbai_BEO #nicetouch
