Offloads are back!
This time last week, the Irish nation was cursing Jamie Heaslip for having the temerity to offload in the tackle to a man in support.
Heaslip had ran a super supporting line off Conor Murray and was attempting to find Robbie Henshaw as he was dragged down. The lay-off was intercepted by the Scots and Heaslip copped an earful.
Having lamented our lack of offloads under Schmidt’s Ireland, circa 2013-2016, here we were complaining when a player dared to and failed.
Heaslip is made of tough stuff, however, and backed himself to offload to Henshaw despite being grappled by Edoardo Gori. By keeping the ball alive, Ireland went on to score in the corner through CJ Stander.
A joy to behold:
The Heaslip offload had them standing and applauding in the aisles… and everywhere else.
