Bonus point win but concern over star scrum-half ahead of crucial two months
Munster recorded a 31-7 win over Zebre to claim all five points and keep up the pressure on Guinness PRO12 league leaders Glasgow.
CJ Stander was named the man-of-the-match and Ian Keatley proved his credentials as first-choice out-half but there was an injury concern over scrum-half Conor Murray.
Keatley put Anthont Foley’s men 3-0 up before centre Pat Howard’s break set Felix Jones up for the opening try. Stander finished off a well-worked line-out and maul move before Murray, on 32 minutes, added the third. His shoulder collided with the post during the act of scoring and, as a precaution, he was immediately removed for Duncan Williams. He returned at the start of the second-half and lasted 18 minutes before Williams replaced him again.
The bonus point was secured with a Simon Zebo try after the break before Zebre hooker Oliviero Fabani restored a modicum of pride with a TMO-assisted score from close range.
Munster and Ireland fans will eagerly await an update on Murray as there are a number of crucial Champions Cup and Six Nations games on the horizon.
