Any chance of a refund?

Kurtley Beale’s colourful career veered towards the deep, dark black today as he was stretchered off 30 seconds into the Waratahs’ Super Rugby clash with the Bulls.

The versatile Wallabies back penned a £1.5 million, two-year deal with Aviva Premiership side Wasps, on Friday, to become English rugby’s highest paid player [in England at least].

Beale, who won the 2014 Super Rugby title, commented, “I want to win trophies with Wasps in the Premiership and Europe.”

The 27-year-old’s first aim will be getting back on the pitch in decent nick after sustaining a serious knee injury.

Beale lasted just 30 seconds of the league clash before wrenching his knee in the turf and falling in a heap.

It was later confirmed by club officials that Beale had injured his posterior cruciate ligament.

Further scans will be carried out later next week but such injuries often take up to three months to fully recover from. If the PCL is simply strained, or inflamed, Beale may be able to return in time for Australia in The Rugby Championship.

Wasps better not attempt to hang onto Ulster-bound Charles Piutau after this injury woe.
