Lucky to be alive.
Austin Dillon must have feared for his life in the split second he was hurtling through the air above his adversaries during the Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway.
The NASCAR driver was sent spinning towards the crash fence after a frenetic last lap incident, on Sunday.
The field was bunched up in the closing stages when a swerve near the front sparked chaos.
Dillon’s car smacked off a fellow competitors and the contact spectacularly flipped his car.
The fence took a shattering impact and Dillon’s car flopped back to earth.
Miraculously, he emerged from the vehicle moments later and was even able to give the crowd a wave.
Great to see @austindillon3 walk away after that scary ending. pic.twitter.com/MEX1SqBZuG
