Toro Rosso driver Carlos Sainz has been airlifted to hospital after crashing into a barrier during practice at the Russian Grand Prix.
The 21 year old has been airlifted to hospital, but initial reports suggested the Spaniard is not seriously injured.
He was conscious and gave onlookers the thumbs up while being examined by medical staff and the FIA confirmed he was speaking.
His car collided with the techpro barriers at turn 13 at the Sochi track after he lost his left front wheel having collided with the wall.

The driver has since communicated via Twitter that he is “doing perfectly”.
