Conor McGregor was all smiles in this post fight interview, so it’s possible this comment was possibly tongue-in-cheek.
The new undisputed UFC Featherweight Champion spoke with Ariel Helwani following his stunning victory at UFC 194.
The Dubliner knocked out Jose Aldo after just 13 seconds of their highly anticipated bout and, in the process, fulfilled his life’s ambition in becoming a world champion.
In addition to reflecting on this career defining victory, and his intentions to be an “active champion”, McGregor was asked about his contract situation with the UFC.
The 27 year old told Helwani that he and the organisation have agreed a new deal, “a very good deal”, according to McGregor.
Helwani then mentioned rumours that there was tension between the fighter and the UFC over a new contract, and asked The Notorious if everything was okay.
McGregor replied: “No.”
“When you bring in a $10.1 million gate, back to back MGM records, when you bring in the pay-per-views that we’re bringing in here… There’s nothing but good business here, Ariel. Times are good.”
Helwani then suggested that it could be the case that McGregor’s new deal is already out of date.
“Maybe it is, maybe they want to offer me a new one.”
