Lamas never stood a chance
Chad Mendes didn’t take very long to get his title ambitions at featherweight back on track tonight at UFC Fight Night 63 with a devastating TKO of Ricardo Lamas.
The fighter, who’s taken a fair few pot-shots at Conor McGregor ahead of his title showdown with Jose Aldo, used power strikes to bring his opponent to the ground before the first round was stopped less than three minutes into the action.
The main event was eagerly awaited as Mendes has twice failed to come up to mark when trying to dethrone Jose Aldo at featherweight. He’s had a few verbal sparring sessions with the Irishman and has backed the defending champion to teach the Dubliner a lesson in July.

Tonight’s win should mean that the winner of the July 11th fight in Las Vegas will be lined up against Mendes and that makes us very very excited.
