There was always going to be some fallout from this.
The UFC’s most recent pay-per-view event, UFC 208, was held in Brooklyn, New York last weekend and there was one fight which made this particular event stand out from the rest.
The headline bout made history as it was the first world title fight for the women’s division newly established featherweight class.
Holly Holm, famous for becoming the first fighter to defeat Ronda Rousey back in November 2015, suffered her third defeat in a row as she succumbed to a unanimous decision verdict in her bout against Germaine de Randamie.
There was controversy surrounding the judges’ decision, however, and this received the wrath of UFC president, Dana White.

De Randamie landed a number of blows on Holm after the bell had sounded.
This occurred on more than once occasion with Holm livid that her opponent wasn’t deducted any points as a result.
Well it now seems that Holm will appeal the decision to award the fight to de Randamie.
Holm and her representatives have now submitted a formal complaint against referee Todd Anderson, according to MMA Fighting.
An excerpt of the complaint reads:
“We respectfully request the commission review referee Anderson’s failure to assess a foul and render a decision regarding a point deduction following Round 2, and failure to assess a foul and a point deduction following Round 3, and determine an appropriate result.”
It remains to be seen whether the result will be overturned but we would expect further developments on this story over the coming week.
