Well, you can’t fault Tony Ferguson’s confidence anyway.
For any normal human, the prospect of being locked inside a cage with a 24-0 monster would be one that would terrify you to your very core. Particularly when said monster has publicly stated that he’d be willing to break your arm, just for shits and giggles.
Well, Tony Ferguson isn’t your average everyday normal guy. The streaking lightweight who is set to take on the undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov for the interim lightweight belt at UFC 209 is a savage too.
However, he’s a savage with a heart, as he explained to media at the event’s open workouts on Thursday.
“You can love somebody without liking them, I love Khabib, man. He’s my brother in arms. We’re all here, we’re all for one. I got peace with him, but inside there we got beef. We got to squash this shit. I’m tired of him, man. He’s a bully, and I’m going to shut him up, but I got respect for him, his father and his whole camp.”

So far, no one has been able to solve the Nurmagomedov riddle. 24 men have tried and every single one of them have failed, including former champion Rafael dos Anjos, power puncher Michael Johnson and elite grappler Gleison Tibau.
‘El Cucuy’ firmly believes that he has what it takes to hand the ‘Eagle’ his first ever loss though. Win, lose or draw, there might not be a rematch of UFC 209’s co-main event following his comments at the open workouts. He went straight out and said that there would be no need after the way intends on winning the fight.
“Fuck no, not after I finish him the way I finish him.”
“It’s different. I’m going to slice and dice him. With the new rules, as far as the UFC goes… ooooh! He’s got something else coming for him. I’m keeping these things (raises elbow) sharp like medal graters. (Makes screeching noise) There’s sparks flying, baby.”
Here’s hoping he doesn’t find himself on the wrong side of a controversial judges’ decision so.
