Ali Abdel-Aziz is certainly earning more column inches than usual as of late.
It emerged last week that the outspoken manager of Frankie Edgar had taken over the fighter’s Twitter account in an attempt to stir the pot for a title shot at Conor McGregor’s featherweight belt.
Abdel-Aziz, who also manages UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos, was quite vocal on Friday morning after reports emerged that it was the Brazilian, rather than Edgar, who was next up for McGregor.
The Egyptian native played down talk of the UFC 197 main event, suggesting that he hadn’t been contacted by the promotion at all.
Abdel-Aziz then began claiming that McGregor was running from Edgar.
That was before he explained that it doesn’t matter which of Abdel-Aziz’s fighters McGregor fights first because he would come unstuck against both.
And of course he reserved some time for McGregor-bashing.
