Jose Aldo has had to be content to remain in the shadow of Conor McGregor in the last six months.
All the limelight has been firmly cast on The Notorious since McGregor was officially announced as the number one contender for the UFC featherweight title that Aldo has held for so long.
And even since McGregor claimed interim gold by beating late stand-in Chad Mendes at UFC 189, Aldo hasn’t been overly vocal.
But he’s quick to remind people that he’s still present and has no plans on going anywhere as he tweeted out this picture this morning.
“Se a tua estrela não brilha, deixa a minha brilhar, pois quem nasceu pra ser rei, rei sempre será” pic.twitter.com/LSwnO761lp
— Jose Aldo Junior (@josealdojunior) July 30, 2015
The caption translates as “If your star doesn’t shine, let mine shine. He who was born to be King will always be King.”
Aldo has continued to use regal metaphor when referring to his place as 145 lb champion and considers McGregor no more than a jester.
We all anxiously await the date confirmation for the unification bout between Aldo and McGregor when we get to see the true coronation.
