Yoel Romero is doing one hell of a job to ensure that he gets the next crack at Michael Bisping’s belt.
‘The Soldier of God’ solidified his place as the number one 185 lb contender with his terrifying flying knee knockout of former champion Chris Weidman at UFC 205.
Although Dana White has all but confirmed that Romero would be getting the next middleweight title shot, he’ll have to wait a little while until ‘The Count’ fully recovers from knee surgery before that fight actually happens.
Considering Chris Weidman, Jacare Souza, Gegard Mousasi, Anderson Silva and Kelvin Gastelum all have fights coming up soon, and with Nick Diaz’s return bout yet to be announced, Romero needs to try his utmost to keep his name at the top of the pile.
He’s just about managing that with his antics on social media, particularly this move.

You can’t argue with those interactions.
At the time of writing, Romero’s GoFundMe page for Michael Bisping’s medical expenses has over a thousand retweets and over seven and a half thousand Facebook shares. It’s probably helped with the fact that it’s impossible not to read the description in the Cuban’s broken English.
“This is Mike, he will be needing money to survive after me and him meet in the octagon approximately May of 2017.”
“He is happy in this picture after defending his title against another fighter and the devastation he went through has caused him to have surgery on his knee where all the visible damage was on his face. This surgery has prevented him from competing in a timely manner.”
“After his fight with me, I am convinced he will need this money to rebuild his life, he has a family and I am deeply concerned for him. Please help any way that you can as all funds will be used for medical expenses and his retirement party. Thank you for your time and #ynuevo Help spread the word!”
Michael Bisping has yet to respond, but his retweet of this gag may suggest that he’s already seen it.
That tweet is a reference to Romero’s infamous ‘stool gate’ incident against Tim Kennedy.
Romero was on the cusp of being knocked out at the end of the second round, but was saved by the bell. After receiving treatment from his corner, the panting Romero remained on his stool even after the buzzer signalled the beginning of the final round. After a few seconds of recovery time, the fight continued and Romero eventually put him away.
