McGregor vs. Khabib is officially ON as both fighters make weight

Patrick McCarry

Ladies and gents, we’ve got a fight!

Conor McGregor (154.5lbs) and Khabib Nurmagomedov (155lbs) have both made weight for their UFC lightweight title fight on Saturday.

McGregor made us all wait a while but his team put that down to the Dubliner “sleeping in” in his Las Vegas home this morning.

Ahead of the morning weigh-ins, there was time for some retrospective looks at how McGregor looked for his last four fights.

McGregor believes the lightweight division is best suited for him but he has spoken about stepping up to fight at welterweight (170lbs) again. He also spoke about taking on UFC legend Anderson Silva in a future bout, with the Brazilian saying he could only get as low as 180lbs for a catchweight contest.

First man in the door was ‘The Eagle’. Having missed weight on a couple of occasions in the past, there was a lot of people watching the scales closely as the 30-year-old took to the scales.

Going by one of his colleague’s Instagram posts, Nurmagomedov was on weight at 155lbs FIVE HOURS before he had to step on scales.

Proving a point to the doubters, Nurmagomedov strode in and came in bang-on 155lbs.

There was a nod, a look to the heavens, sip of water and a steely look in his eyes.

All eyes were then on McGregor’s movements as the likes of Tony Ferguson, Derrick Lewis, Felice Herrig, Michelle Waterson and more streamed in to take to the scales.

At 10:05am, local time, McGregor entered the room and stepped on the scales.

He was 0.5lbs under the limit so the fight was ON!

The ceremonial weigh-in takes place at the T-Mobile Arena later this evening.
