Las Vegas very much sees the upcoming main event of UFC 196 as a pick ’em.
Rafael dos Anjos opened as favourite according to oddsmakers but, since then, Conor McGregor has just edged ahead in terms of favouritism as he’s now 8/11 to make history and become the first man to simultaneously hold titles in two separate UFC weight divisions.
But Jon Jones isn’t agreeing with the bookies as he’s predicting that McGregor will come unstuck in his move up to lightweight.
Jones is almost universally considered the pound-for-pound best in the world right now so definitely knows what he’s talking about and he’s backing Rafael dos Anjos to keep hold of his 155 lb crown.
“I’m a big fan of McGregor, I’m becoming a huge fan of RDA,” he told Rainah Andrews.
“Based on (dos Anjos’) performances, I think I’m going to go with him. I’m not rooting for either person but if I had to put my money on someone, I would put it on RDA.”
Former light heavyweight champion Jones is a training partner of Donald Cerrone’s at Albuquerque and, having seen ‘Cowboy’ be beaten handily by dos Anjos last month, ‘Bones’ has been sold on the Brazilian.
“(Donald) Cerrone’s my teammate and I watched him prepare and I knew he was super prepared to become a world champion.
“The way that fight went just shows me what level RDA is on. So if I had to put my money on it, I think I’d go RDA.”
