Frankie Edgar is positioning himself well for a fight before the end of the year.
The former UFC lightweight champion is eager to fight at UFC 194 so will be able to step in on short notice if Jose Aldo pulls out of the main event against Conor McGregor.
And number eight ranked featherweight Jeremy Stephens has offered up his services as opponent for The Answer, an offer that Edgar was quick to jump all over.

The fight would make sense for the UFC because Stephens finished his last fight, a UFC 189 comeback knockout of Dennis Bermudez, in such impressive fashion and the promotion would have a readymade day-saver if their UFC 194 main event falls apart in Edgar.
If the matchmakers do add Edgar v Stephens to the December 12th event then it will be one of the most stacked cards in UFC history as the main card currently features Aldo v McGregor, Weidman v Rockhold and Romero v Jacare.
