Jose Aldo is on the mend and he has a certain acerbic-tongued Irish fighter on his mind.
Rio-based Irish journalist Pat Fitzgerald caught up with Aldo after yesterday’s press conference. The champion admitted that he wasn’t blown away by McGregor’s interim belt-winning performance against Chad Mendes at UFC 189.
“No fear, he gave me no reason to feel fear because he lost the battle, but won the fight. The only reason he won is because Mendes got tired. This guy talks a lot more than he fights.”
Aldo was originally scheduled to fight McGregor in the main event at UFC 189, but was forced to withdraw with a bruised rib and cartilage. He confirmed that the injury is improving, before showing off his healing ribs to the camera.
“Yes, yes, they are much better. One more week. I hope to come back quickly because I have never spent a long time doing nothing. Today is a lot better, I can move a lot better than I could.”
Aldo closed off with a message to the Notorious and the Irish fans.
