Daniel Cormier has become the first fighter to hold two UFC belts simultaneously since Conor McGregor.
The super fight between Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic more than lived up to the hype. From the get-go, it was all-action.
Miocic started on the front-foot, closing the distance in an effort to land those short-range punches. Cormier responded with a leg kick before engaging in a clinch. The Cleveland native then showed his cajones by taking the Olympian down, albeit briefly. This brought the fans to their feet as they tied up at the fence.
Once they separated, DC started finding home with his hands. He had continued success with his jab, eventually opening up a cut above his adversary’s eye. Miocic landed some fierce punches of his own and then, proceedings were brought to a halt.
Cormier, who had already been warned about extending his fingers, dug his finger into Miocic’s eye. Herb Dean issued him another warning. Once Miocic confirmed he was fit to continue, they went back at it.
Heavy blows ensued, but Cormier landed big first. He sent Miocic crashing down to the mat with a seismic right hand before finishing him off with precise and violent strikes from the top. Just like that, he finished the winningest UFC heavyweight champion of all time. He was awarded the knockout victory at 4:38 of the first round.
Cormier entered into the Octagon with the light heavyweight strap. He made his exit with that belt, the heavyweight title and a nailed-on place as an all-time great.

“I’m a two-division champion, baby!”
The victory sees Cormier improve to 21-1 (1 NC). He also kept his pristine record as a heavyweight intact, moving up to 14-0 in the division. Miocic, on the other hand, fell to 18-3 and saw his six-fight winning streak snapped.
After the victory, Cormier called out former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar who was in attendance. The WWE star entered into the Octagon to build up an inevitable title fight.

Lesnar immediately shoved the new champ and the duo engaged in a shouting match that wouldn’t look out of place inside a pro wrestling ring.
“Push me now, you go to sleep later,” Cormier said.
“Miocic is a piece of shit. DC, I’m coming for you, motherfucker,’ Lesnar responded.
It was exactly as lame as you’d expect it to be.
