Dana White teases Brock Lesnar’s UFC return with cryptic social media post

A return to the octagon looks to be very much on the cards.

Dana White has set the tongues of UFC fans wagging after posting a photo of himself with Brock Lesnar on Twitter.

Lesnar hasn’t fought in the UFC since his unanimous decision victory over Mark Hunt at UFC 200 in 2016. However, after being fined $250,000 and suspended for one-year after testing positive for the banned substance clomiphene, the result was overturned to a no contest. In February 2017, Lesnar announced that he would be retiring from MMA.

The 40-year-old heavyweight champion’s contract with the WWE expires in April, after Wrestlemania, fuelling speculation that he could step back into the octagon. White has added fuel to the fire by posting a photo with Lesnar, who is wearing a UFC t-shirt, cryptically captioning it with a smiling face emoji, suggesting that something in the way of an announcement may be afoot.

Lesnar is a huge draw for the UFC so it certainly makes sense from a business perspective but his return would certainly attract controversy considering his recent track record with steroids.

It’s very possible that White and Lesnar were just hanging out. White being happy to see Lesnar would explain the smiley face, but White knew exactly what he was doing posting it on Twitter for all to see and speculate on.

So yeah, it could be nothing. For now, though, the rumour mill is working in overdrive and we can’t help but get wrapped up in it.
