Looking for a fight

It’s almost a year to the day since CM Punk signed with the UFC.

The former WWE superstar, real name Phil Brooks, has been training ever since with esteemed striking coach Duke Roufus at Milwaukee’s Roufusport gym.

He’s been gaining experience with the likes of the Pettis brothers, Ben Askren and Chico Camus but Brooks has yet to be scheduled for his MMA debut.

But Dana White has revealed this week that he’s been making steps to recruit the perfect opponent for Brooks in his new show Dana White: Looking for a Fight.

The pilot of the show, which sees White joined by Matt Serra and Nick “The Tooth” as the trio travel to regional events and scout up-and-coming fighters, was how Sage Northcutt managed to secure himself a spot on the UFC roster.

“I just started a new show,” White told Off The Record. “The pilot is on YouTube. It’s called, Dana White: Looking for a Fight.

“I’m actually out looking for opponents for CM Punk right now.”

Many fight fans were expecting to see Brooks fight in 2015 before the former professional wrestler was sidelined with a shoulder injury and White also revealed that he was unsure whether Brooks was going to fight this year but promised that we would see him in 2016.

“I didn’t know,” White said. “It’s the first time this guy has ever trained to fight. The guy has never wrestled. He ‘professional wrestled’ but he’s never wrestled. He will fight next year. 100 percent.”
