Conor McGregor will make history on Saturday night as disclosed payout is revealed

Regardless of what happens on Saturday night, Conor McGregor will have broken a record.

‘The Notorious’ is set to become the first ever UFC fighter to earn a disclosed purse of $1 million, whether he wins or loses against Nate Diaz.

ESPN’s Brett Okamoto obtained the disclosed payouts from the Nevada State Athletic Commission for UFC 196 and the document confirms that McGregor’s first bout at welterweight will be a historic one in terms of purse.

There is no win bonus attached to the purse so McGregor will not earn any more or less with a victory over Diaz on Saturday night.

Diaz will earn $500,000 just to show up on Saturday night as he too has no win bonus specified in the disclosed payouts.

It’s interesting to note that Holly Holm will earn half as much as McGregor despite Holm’s fight being for a world title and, even more interesting, is the paltry sum that Miesha Tate will leave with even if she upsets the odds and dethrones ‘The Preacher’s Daughter,’ as Tate is on a $45,000 to show/$45,000 to win rate on Saturday night.

It should also be noted, for those wondering why figures of $10 million had been quoted in relation to McGregor’s earnings for UFC 196, that this is simply the disclosed payout. It doesn’t include payouts from Reebok or other sponsors, nor does it include any discretionary bonuses that the fighters earn.
