Betting slips at the ready.
Conor McGregor, who has so seldom failed to back up his pre-fight predictions, has delivered his prophecy for his upcoming lightweight title fight against Rafael dos Anjos.
McGregor was speaking at a press conference to mark the fact that tickets would go on sale on Friday and drew comparisons between dos Anjos and Aldo, who was knocked out by ‘The Notorious’ in 13 seconds last month.
“I believe I will dust Rafael inside one minute,” McGregor said. “He is a slower, sloppier version of (Jose) Aldo. He’s like a bum version of Aldo.
“I believe in absolutely everything, I believe that inside one minute I will dust him. I will exit the contest fresh, I will cash the cheque, I will sign the next contract for UFC 200, at the brand new MGM, and we’ll go again.”
Much has been spoken about the 145 lber moving up to lightweight where there are many bigger men but McGregor maintains that he’ll be the larger fighter on the night.
“I’m the bigger man here,” he said. “I’m gonna bully this man in his own division.”
And just in case there was any doubt about when he believed the fight would come to a close, McGregor reaffirmed his prediction.
“It will be another KO,” McGregor said. “I’d love to beat the ugly out of him and drag him into the second and third rounds. I would love to do that. But I feel like I’m gonna dust him in under one minute.”
