Artem Lobov has a novel idea for how the UFC should deal with boring fighters

Drinks all round

Artem Lobov feels he has yet to fight in the UFC.

After dropping a decision to Jiu-Jitsu black belt Ryan Hall at The Ultimate Fighter 22 finale, ‘The Russian Hammer’ believes that that performance doesn’t qualify as a fight.

“I have mixed feelings,” Lobov said. “I wasn’t so much upset about the loss, I was upset about the way it went down. It wasn’t much of a fight and it wasn’t even a grappling contest, to be honest. I don’t know what it was.

“I was very, very bored during the fight and could sense the boredom in the room as well.

“When they gave me my cheque after the fight, I said ‘I can’t believe you pay for this kind of shit here.'”

And Lobov, who takes on Alex White in Las Vegas this weekend, has proposed a rule change from the promotion so that “boring” fighters are punished while the fans are compensated for being forced to sit through unexciting bouts.

“I would have had absolutely no problem if they’d used my purse to buy everyone in the audience a drink as part of some kind of compensation for a boring fight because people that come to watch UFC events come to be entertained.

“This is the entertainment business and if it’s a boring fight then they should take the purses from the fighters and give the fans a free drink.”

Hear, hear.
