With as much animosity as there is between Conor McGregor and Jose Aldo, you’d forgive some negative comments between the camps.
But The Notorious has come in for some praise from Aldo’s striking coach and former UFC heavyweight legend Pedro Rizzo ahead of the featherweight title fight this summer.
“I expect a very tough fight,” Rizzo told Sherdog. “Aldo said that McGregor is the real deal and he is the real deal. He’s not bullshit. [Aldo] is training hard, he’s training very, very hard.
“He [McGregor] is a southpaw and southpaws always mess with straight [orthodox] guys.
“But I think Jose Aldo can go to a place that McGregor’s never been. [Aldo] has had big battles in the ring. His last fight with Chad Mendes, he didn’t control the fight. He had no moments that he controlled the fight, but he kept fighting.”
Rizzo is famed for his leg-kicks that he has managed to incorporate into Aldo’s arsenal which is an aspect of the game that many are questioning McGregor’s ability to deal with.
“We never see McGregor out of control. We saw him controlling everybody. So I think Jose Aldo is going to bring something that McGregor doesn’t know. I think Aldo’s going to take McGregor to a few places that he’s never been.”
Watch them leg-kicks Conor.
